Ningbo is located at the midpoint of China's coastline. The city covers anarea of 9,816 sq. km, including 2,462 sq km of the urban area, and owns a permanent population of 5.76 million. Travel distance between Ningbo and Shanghai is only about 2.5 hours, owing to the 36km-long Hangzhou Bay bridge, which is the second longest sea-crossing bridge in the world.
