Brief Introduction to Daxie Development Zone
Ningbo Daxie Development Zone was launched in Mar. 1993. It was developed by CITIC Group, enjoying preferential policies eligible to the state-level economic and technical development zones.
Daxie Development zone is located in the east of Ningbo and about 40km away from Daxie to the downtown of Ningbo. It is consists of Daxie Island and other 13 isles, with the total area of 36 square kilometers.
Daxie island boasts 26km coastline, among which 10.7km belongs to deep water coastline with water depth measuring 20~30m just about 100m off the land. Altogether 49berths are to be built in plan with the designed capacity totaling to 130million tons.
With the obvious geographical superiority and port advantages, Daxie Development Zone aims for the key industries such as port-related petrochemical industries, energy transferring industries, port logistics and so on:

Port-related Petrochemical Industries
With the strategic location in Yangtze River Delta and advantages in deepwater coastline, Daxie is the most suitable and ideal site to build up port-related petrochemical projects. Some large scaled projects, including Mitsubishi Chemical PTA, Wanhua MDI, CNOOC Bitumen, etc, settled in Daxie, has established sound industrial foundation here. Based on the existing key projects, we will develop upstream and downstream industries in the future, turning Daxie into the petrochemical base with coordinated industries, virtual resource usage and competitive enterprises in alliance.

Energy Transferring
Based on the unequalled natural deep water coastline resource and the strategic location in East China, Daxie has attracted many enterprises like BP LPG Base Terminal, Sinopec Crude Oil Transferring Terminal, PetroChina Oil Product Storage Project and CITIC-Stolt Liquid Chemicals Storage Project, which turns Daxie into the dominant crude oil transshipment base in East China. Based on the above industries, it is planned to focus on the chemical products logistics to serve for Daxie, its surrounding areas and the area along the Yangtze River, trying to make Daxie the important chemical products transferring base in East China.
Port & Logistic Industry
In Daxie, 28 jetties with the total capacity of 47.58 million tons have been put into operation, including jetties for the crude oil, LPG, liquefied chemical, container, bulk cargoes, etc. The container terminals has the handling capacity of 1.5 million TEU per year, with 16 international shipping lines to the ports in South Asia, Japan, Europe, US, Middle East, etc.
In 2007，the total throughput of Daxie Port hit 39 million tons, which listed Daxie into the middle-scale ports of China.
In the 11th Five-Year period, Daxie is expected to add 4 billion yuan investment, 20 new berths with the capacity of 60 million tons, being a world-class international deep sea port for transshipment.
