Regional Survey
Jiangdong district is the key urban area of Ningbo modern international seaport and the main metropolitan area that plays a leading role in Ningbo. The Beilun Port lies to its east and Sanjiangkou (three estuaries), the most thriving downtown of Ningbo in the west. Ningbo High-Tech Park lies to its north and Ningbo Higher Education Zone to its south. Jiangdong district covers an area of 37.7 sq. km., and has a residential population of about 300,000. It is a new and developing modern central urban district. According to the Overall Plan of Ningbo City, Ningbo is speeding up its pace of expanding eastern and the construction of new eastern city proper. Jiangdong district will be constructed as the center of commerce and trade, exhibition, science & technology, information and administration in Ningbo. The overall goal of our district’s social economic development is: Basically forming the trading center, exhibition and logistic center and administration center of Ningbo.

Transportation Condition
The Shanghai–Hangzhou–Ningbo highway, which cuts its way to Beilun Port (20-minute-drive) across through Jiangdong district. The Tongsan highway, which adjoins major cities alongside China coastline from Tongjiang city of Heilongjiang province to Sanya city of Hainan province, joins in Jiangdong district. It takes only 1.5 hours to drive to Hangzhou and 3 hours to Shanghai . The 36km-long bridge connecting Ningbo and Shanghai across the Hangzhou Bay is to be completed in 2008.It will take less than 2 hours to drive to Shanghai after its completion. The Lishe International Airport, is about 15-minute-drive from Jiangdong district and the Xiaoshan International Airport is within the one-hour.
Economy Foundation
Aiming at constructing a new modern central urban area, Jiangdong district is endeavoring to put effect the strategy of building the ecotype district with science and technology, strong service support and advanced culture. Carrying out the strategy of developing the high-tech, concentrated and widely covered industry and aiming for the high quality of economy growth, the upgrade of the industry and the change of economic growth’s means. GDP of our district has been increased over 15% than last year for 5 years in a row, financial revenue has been increased over 30% than last year for 5 years in a row, and the proportion of the service industry’s increased value in GDP is over 70%.The urban type industries concerning the information technology, optical-mechanical-electronic integration and new material, have shown fine development advantages. Jiangdong district has gained continuous growth of GDP by 15 percent and continuous growth of financial revenue by 30 percent for five concessive years.
Living Environment
Dominated by a subtropical monsoon climate, Ningbo has an annual average temperature of 16.3℃, an annual average relative humidity of 58.5% , annual average wind speed of 6 m/s and annual rainfall of 1360mm. The four distinct seasons with mild climate and abundant rainfall makes Ningbo a remarkable place rich in natural scenery spots and human culture. The air quality of Ningbo reaches grade A all year round. There is no geography faultages, earthquake nor flood in Ningbo.
There are many high and medium rank hotels and restaurants in Jiangdong district, among which are two five-star hotel and five four-star ones. The Shangri-La Hotel, and Radison Hotel are under construction and will be put into use in 2008 one after another. Hantong Restaurant, Xiangyang Fishery Restaurant, Xincaihong Restaurant, and Haoyangguang Restaurant are the most famous restaurants in Ningbo and also in China. They provide various valued delicious seafood and snacks, which can meet different demands. Sports facilities like Ningbo Sports Center, Youngor Gymnasium and Ningbo Swimming Center provide citizens with recreation. Comprehensive medical treatment and sanitation organizations like Lihuili Hospital, Ningbo No. 6 Hospital, 113 Hospital provide perfect health care to the people living here. There are also a gathering of international shopping malls like Carrefour, Auchan, Golden Center etc.
